Music
At Church of the Resurrection, you’ll find a congregation who love to lift their voices and sing.
Adult Choir
Our adult choir is composed of dedicated volunteers as well as a quartet of choral scholars. They lead worship at our 10:30am service with hymns, service music, and anthems. Volunteer singers rehearse each Wednesday from 5:15-6:00pm in the Nave; the full Choir rehearses on Sundays at 9:30am. There is always room for more volunteers in this warm and joyful group!
Our repertoire has the Anglican choral tradition at its core, while also treasuring the artistry of many other composers through the centuries. This past year included such music as Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, Tarik O’Regan’s From Heaven Distilled a Clemency, Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs, and Elaine Hagenberg’s Alleluia. This year, we’ll be singing our Annual Festival of Lessons and Carols, plus seasonal services of Evensong and Compline
St. Gregory Children’s Choir
Children ages 6+ are invited to participate in the St. Gregory Choir, which rehearses on Sunday mornings during Christian Education. Children sing throughout the year for special occasions, including The Blessing of the Animals, Christmas, and Easter.
Organ
Our 3-manual organ, custom built by Phoenix Organs of Canada, is a digital copy of the magnificent “Father” Willis organ at Hereford Cathedral in England. It uses high-resolution sampling and a custom audio system to authentically render a wide range of organ repertoire and accompaniments. The Nave also contains a Knabe grand piano, used frequently for both solo literature and accompaniment.
Sacred Opera
We are thrilled to launch our first Sacred Opera on October 12, 2025, at 4:00 pm, presenting The Walk from the Garden by British composer Jonathan Dove. This modern telling of the expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden will be sung by soprano Rebekah Alexander and tenor Nicholas Branson, with strings, timpani, and organ, along with the Choir. This will be only the second American performance of this brilliant, incisive piece; please join us.
